No fishing license will be needed for a Sept. 5 free fishing clinic hosted by the state Department of Environmental Conservation at John A. Brooks Memorial Fishing Pier on South Bay of Lake Champlain.
Bait and some fishing equipment will be available for use, though those with equipment were urged to bring it.
DEC fisheries staff will be available to teach participants about fish identification, angling equipment and techniques, safety and angling ethics
The 300-foot, handicapped accessible pier is located off Route 22, just north of the village of Whitehall. There is shallow water for panfish, and the deeper channel for fishing for bass, drum and perch.
The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
